Raised in a household tainted by violence and drug abuse, Donnie McClurkin found a safe haven from the troubles and temptations that surrounded him in the word of Jesus; at the age of nine, he committed himself to Christ and was helped by a sympathetic aunt who sang in the choir of gospel music great Andre Crouch. With Crouch's guidance, McClurkin became a gospel singer and pastor himself, and despite a life-threatening bout with leukemia, he continues to spread the word of god in story and song. Donnie McClurkin Story: From Darkness...To Light is a documentary in which McClurkin shares his true and inspiring story.
