This installment of Biography takes a look at hip-hop pioneer, business mogul, and philanthropist Russell Simmons. The program follows Simmons from his humble beginnings growing up in Queens, New York, through his early days as a groundbreaking force in the rap scene, producing and managing such acts as Run-DMC, the Beastie Boys, Jay Z, and Tupac Shakur, eventually creating the now legendary Def Jam Records with partner Ric Rubin.
